Class Descriptions
Reveal Hatha Yoga
In Sanskrit, “Ha” represents sun and “tha” represents moon. This alludes to the opposites in our lives, such as yin and yang, light and dark, hard and soft, vigorous and gentle. Hatha yoga is great for all levels, and allows you to the time to settle into each posture being practiced, exploring how it feels before moving on to the next asana. It allows the release of imbalances stored in the body which creates space; with that space, an opportunity is created for growth and change. A typical Hatha class consists of postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (samadhi).
Reveal Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a quiet and gentle practice that works deeply into your body. It targets our deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues: ligaments, joints, bones, and the deep fascia networks of the body, rather than the muscles. Energetically, yin yoga improves the energy flow, enhancing the flow of chi in the organs. In our Reveal Yin Class, we will gently stretch connective tissue by holding a yin pose for a longer period of time, supported by props, so the body can respond in a way that is restorative and leaves you feeling stronger and more present in your body.
Reveal Vinyasa Basics Yoga
Vinyasa loosely translates to “movement linked with breath”, and is often known as a flow. In this class, postures (asanas) form a flowing sequence, in coordination with your breath. This style of yoga is dynamic requiring the mind to stay focused in the present – present in your body and with your breath. Attention is placed on the breath and the journey between the asanas rather than solely on achieving a specific body alignment in a pose. This fast paced class is suitable for all levels, however if you are a first-timer let your instructor know.
Reveal Karma Yoga
Karma Yoga, as described in the sacred Hindu texts, The Bhagavid Gita, as the path of action or selfless service towards others. Practicing Karma Yoga invites the intention of compassion and generosity, and is one of many ways to act on selfless service towards the community. In this all-levels practice, you will experience a variety of instructors and types of yoga. Join the practice for a $5 minimum donation, with proceeds going to a new charity every quarter.
Reveal Stretch & Release
This myofascial yoga practice will guide you through different layers of muscle tissue, working into areas you may find troublesome and in need of extra attention. Using a combination of self-massage, yoga therapy balls, and stretches, you will have the chance to work through stiff areas of your body. Ease tension in the body while learning how to be more aware of your movements and where to adjust them to provide relief. Areas of focus can include head forward posture, tight hips, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel, low back pain, and more!
Reveal Community Acupuncture
Community Acupuncture is an opportunity to experience Individual and Collective Healing simultaneously. Treatments are done in a group setting, fully clothed, with each person in a relaxed position either in their own chair or yoga mat (use of props in the studio will help to find a sustainable and relaxed position). With the knowledge of meridians under Traditional Chinese Medicine, most ailments can be treated through points on the hands and feet meaning most needles will be inserted into the limbs and ears. When we heal together it interrupts the isolation that is so common with illness. Community Acupuncture allows the collective energy of the group to amplify healing. Advance registration recommended. Note: can be submitted under acupuncture health benefits, $30/session. Not applicable with punch passes. Classes are Wednesday’s at 6:30pm, to register click here!
